Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If you love film scores and/or would want to get a better idea of how they are composed take this class! It's fun and interesting and my teacher was very knowledgeable about his stuff

    Course highlights:

We get to watch a lot of examples of certain film scores which is fun and it broadens your knowledge on films as well. One thing I learned was that sometimes during the opening credits (if the movie has opening credits) that it ties into what the movie will be about. e.g. in alfred hitchcock's vertigo the opening credits seem to exemplify the fact that it will be about the trials and tribulations of a man experiencing life long vertigo

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be scared to try something new and different. It's a fun class and you may learn and enjoy something new that you probably didn't expect you would like

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

It's a good course to take for GE credits and it is also pretty interesting if you like music and/or movies.

    Course highlights:

We learned about how music in films at different time periods worked and how to helped the movie to an extent. You get to watch a lot of movies and think about them in ways that you never really would before.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

All you have to do really is pay attention to the lecture and do your readings. There's not many outside assignments so just go to class and actually be there.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this course because it will open your eyes to the different elements of film making and how all these elements come together. I never knew how much music played such as essential role in films and now that I know that it does I can analyze a movie by the film score and interpret how the music made the movie into something empowering or magical.

    Course highlights:

I learned the Composers that changed the way we hear music today and I learned a great deal of essential vocabulary words to communicate and explain music terms and references in the film. The highlights of this course was when I would learn the different eras of music in the film industry and how similar or different they were.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Attendance is necessary. In one day you are absent you can miss a lot of content and new information that you wouldn't be reviewing the following class. Making sure to stay focused on the films and keeping an open ear on the music and most importantly asking questions in class.
