    | Would not recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Since this is a mini semester I would not recommend taking the summer course because they are rushing through the materials and we couldn't do a lot of the labs correctly do to needing more time.

    Course highlights:

My most favorite part is when we used soap water to separate a strawberry and its DNA. Its really the only lab that was quick so we were able to see the results.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study hard for the exams but study harder for lab exams.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course, if and only if, students are interested in biology or biomedical major. If you major in engineering or mathematics or physics, take biology for non-major instead.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course is you will learn the monomers and polymers that make up cells, and how cells in involved in the human body.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

My test is like application type, so there will not be any straight forward questions. This is not a high school class. Its test mostly is not like the note you take. You got to read the book over and over again and think a lot or else you will not pass.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Unless you are a science major, I would not recommend this course. It was alright overall but too involved for someone like me who isn't planning on going into the science field. If you have the option of taking an easier science course, I would definitely recommend doing so.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were learning about metabolism and cellular respiration because it was interesting and felt relevant to everyone as it should be common knowledge. The labs were also very interesting and helped aid in understanding the concepts discussed in the lecture. I also loved Professor Bair's use of random stories to make the concepts easier to understand. He always kept you entertained in class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

For this specific instructor, print out all of the study guides he provides and bring them to class. Take thorough notes and make sure to answer the questions on the study guides to reference when studying for one of the four exams. Read the book even though it's hard to get through. Also watch all of the videos Professor Bair provides. They may be similar to what he discusses in class but with biology 1406 in general, repetition is key. Learn and re-learn each concept many times as the concepts build on eachother and get more complicated as the semester goes on.
