Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class sets the foundation of research. Through 311, you learn how to format your scientific writing and how to become a researcher. The course itself is tough, but the syllabus tells students exactly what to expect and provides resources for tutoring and more.

    Course highlights:

The course overall teaches students how to write in a correct format. Ultimately, the writing requirements for other courses or programs isn't the same as 311, but you learn how to edit your work into a scientific paper. You have lecture and lab where you have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and gain new writing skills.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would encourage students to take this class seriously. As you move up in upper division courses, many professors reference materials learned from this class. Writing in APA format is to be expected in 311 and beyond, but you are given an APA book as a required book for this course to guide you in your writing.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class because you will learn a lot about experiments in psychology. I never had a class come close to this one in my undergraduate career. It is hard and you have to be self motivated to do well. However, the reward of being successful in this course can never be replaced.

    Course highlights:

Learning how to conduct experiments, studies, and how to write an APA experimental paper was the highlight in the class. I learned how to analyze, state limitations of specific studies, and how to critically think for further implications.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You must be hardworking, motivated, and have internal grit! Tape record lectures, collaborate with your peers to gain more insight into the material, and set aside time to study.
