Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I was not excited about taking this course when I originally signed up. But I needed a certain number of credits for this so I decided that this was a better option than some of the other classes available. However, when the course started I realized that I knew a little more about it then anticipated and that I had a bit more interest than I expected. This course is one of those that years down the road, at a dinner party somewhere, someone will bring up art in conversation and you will actually have something relevant to say as well as know what you are talking about.

    Course highlights:

We learned about famous artists and how they contributed to each artistic movement that followed. Artists like Pop icon Andy Warhol and his battle with relationships and drugs and alcohol that shaped his art. We learned about the different art movements, and how they were shaped and formed by artists before them.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

There is a lot of reading but like I said previously, it is interesting reading. Learning about all of these different and iconic artists of our era is entertaining as well as enlightening.

    Course highlights:

Learning about the Harlem Renassience was the best part of this course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read read and read. Familiarity will be gained with the various art forms and their relationship to mass media, personal and professional life, and in particular to how they contribute to the current conception of fine art and popular culture.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I thought this course was very informative and gave me a great deal of information about pop culture and the arts. I really enjoyed this class, I never really thought about how much art is really around me and a part of my life.

    Course highlights:

I learned to appreciate artists like the iconic Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat . This course also opened my eyes to the struggle that artist, especially women and minorities went through to show their art to the world. Awesome class!! This class inspired me to buy an easel, some painting supplies and enjoy more art with my children.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Take this course, if you really do not think art is a part of everyday life you will be presently surprised.
