    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is the perfect foundation to succeed in a psychology degree. All of the content is taught with such love and passion that it makes the learning environment relaxed and enjoyable. During the first half of the course you may find the course load overwhelming or not as interesting, however, don't drop the course because of this as it really picks up and gets good the further along you are.

    Course highlights:

I learned all about metacognition and how being a metacognitive learner can help improve your academic performance. The course also dives deep into psychological problems, the psychosocial model, and it will end with the different careers paths that you could take if you decide to major in psychology. We also had a special week where we learned about dreams and the effects they have on individuals, which sparked a new interest in me I didn't even know I had! Another highlight I had was that all of the TA's in the course are good at getting students engaged and it really makes you want to come to lectures and seminars. Something that everyone can get from this course regardless of if you're a psychology major is it teaches you how to properly write in APA formatting. This ended up being so crucial and really helped me in not just this course, but all my courses. They give you tons of resources in order to succeed and really help you to dive into what you're learning with interactive approaches. In seminars we would have little jeopardy games or get us to try to and draw a visual representation of what we were learning so that we had a good understanding of the content each week. The exam guides for this course are very thorough and if you do it all you will do good on the exams.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to work hard, but enjoy what you're learning. If you love the material of the course the assignments will come easy to you. There is a research paper required for the course, but do not let that be the reason you don't take it. As long as you keep up with the due dates and ask questions you will not have a problem and it might really peak your interest in psychology if you are not already a psychology major. Make sure you talk in your seminar, this could really determine the success you have in the course. The TA's are there to help and if you don't understand the material just say so and no one will judge you. I promise that in the end it will help you succeed and maximize your learning experience. During exam times, go to the library and look at past exams to test your knowledge. Start your exam prep early as this could be your saving grace for passing the course. The professor will provide exam reviews and if you do all of it and have no problem you will be fine on the exam. There will not be anything on the exam that is not in the exam review. Take advantage of all the resources that they give you to help ensure your success in this course. You will have online quizzes in the course, however, there is no time limit and you can take it 4 times in total. Take your time. You can easily get perfect on all of the quizzes and with that and the research participation that you will be asked to do you will already have 15% of your course done. It's such an amazing course and everyone who has an interest in learning about how humans work will love it.
