    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because it was very interesting, and important to understanding science or life in general.

    Course highlights:

You learn all about how organisms evolved to what they are today and how different features that are common now came about. Many different species of animals and plants (and the differences between them) are studied. It is also very sensible, which made it enjoyable.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

There is a lot of memorization in this course. All of the names and traits of the organisms need to be memorized, as well as the timeline of where they came about in the evolution. I would suggest memorizing as you learn the material instead of cramming right before the midterm or final. Also, do not try to memorize the concepts in addition to all the names. Try to understand the concepts so that memorization is not needed. Thorough understanding will also help you with the exam because he usually asks in-depth questions.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course is entirely memorization, and did not interest me in my major at all (Kinesiology) but it was one of the prereqs. There were some interesting topics, but very hard to follow, especially if you aren't the best at memorizing things. My professor was great, just the course was hard. Also, you had to memorize rediculously long and complex names of organisms.

    Course highlights:

Highlights were the Hominins and learning about the evolution of primates, since I could relate to it the most. Also, the dinosaur section was interesting but not enough time was spent on it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study literally every day, even if it's for 10 minutes right before bed. Lab section for this course was completely pointless, everything I learned that stuck was in lecture. Force yourself to like this type of bio even if it doesnt relate to your major. Office hours were helpful as well.
