Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is a true eye opener when it comes to our society and really helps shed light on current socioeconomic and cultural problems today. It's a class that really helps individuals understand the structures of different problems in society and is definitely beneficial knowledge to have for every major.

    Course highlights:

Everyone knows that there are lots of problems with today's society, but what this class does is it digs deep down to the roots of it and really shows why things are the way that they are. The most interesting part to me was learning about different theories of social problems and applying them to current issues. The class really allows students to break things down and be able to critically analyze societal flaws. This allows for creative thinking towards problem solving. I learned about the complexities of these problems and it helped explain why it seemed like nothing was ever getting solved. I also learned about the amount of factors that come into play that cause certain issues such as poverty and crime. I really felt like I took a lot away from this class and have a clearer view of the world.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Come into this course with an open mind. Everyone has preconceived notions of what causes certain social problems, but don't let those ideas block you from learning new things. Don't just settle with that you've learned either! Take the knowledge and apply it to the real world!
