Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The professor cares deeply about the students, and took us on trips outside of class to better understand our material. We went to the Orland Grasslands and helped to remove invasive species as we were learning about what these species were and just how harmful they can be. We also went out to the fields on campus and watched birds to help us better understand their characteristics as this was what we were learning in class at the time.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was that it more than just some lectures and a test. We got hands on experience and got to witness things in the real world which gave us a better understanding than we could get from the textbook. The teacher was able to appeal to all different types of learning methods and she was always around to help us with anything. Many teachers will leave you to do your work or your labs and assume that you could do these things without their help. Mrs. Bernard was always walking around guiding us so that we could learn the correct way to do things and see the results that we were intended to get, rather than learning from a mistake and a poor grade. I learned many new ways to drill the material in my head, and that I am a hands on learner because I was able to grasp material so much better with all of the activities we did outside of the class lectures.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go into this class expecting to participate and don't only expect lectures, test, and homework. There is so much more to this course that is there to benefit you, and you should use it as a chance to grow as a student and not as a reason to complain that you don't understand the material because you don't learn well this way. She works with all types of students who have different ways of learning and she is great at incorporating all of these into the class throughout the entire semester. Be prepared to put a little more into this class than you normally would a biology class because it is more than just a textbook.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I definitely recommend taking Biology with Bernard. She's such a good professor who has experience and passion behind her teaching. Guaranteed to learn something intriguing everyday.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were volunteering at a nearby Wildlife Preservation/Grassland and seeing the things we learned in our textbook come into play.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study and ask questions. There is always something to learn, just pay attention!
