Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I have struggled with math since grade school. My anxiety level when reviewing the course load for my certificate in Medical Coding and Billing was at an all time high. Professor K has been helpful, available, and the online course interface is brilliant. While I may have to press the explain button several times before the subject matter is comprehended, I am boasting and A in that class. The adaptive interactive and self paced program has made a huge difference in being able to relax and learn.

    Course highlights:

I have learned pre-algebra! This is landmark for me, at 50 I find myself in school and college to boot! I took a GED at 16 years of age and have not been in formal education other than a brief interlude with massage therapy school. Remedial math was where learners like me were placed when the teacher became aggravated with my performance and aptitude. The self paced ALEKS program and discipline of periodic knowledge checks and subject percentage deadline dates has taken the fear, embarrassment, and stress out of the learning process.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The best tip for this course is to go in with an open mind, be ready to learn, and discipline yourself to working on the progress goals as often as possible. The materials which consist of discussion boards, ALEKS interactive learning software, and textbook cover all bases. The professor was available as well as tutoring if needed.
