    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Biology 1610 with Dr. Kopp will test your abilities to study well. This class really taught me how to be a good student. Reading before lectures was VITAL, which is a skill I'm glad I mastered before my current semester with Bio 2 and Chem 2. Studying key concepts while still paying attention to detail is what I learned from this course. It is fascinating! You will learn amazing things about the world we live in!

    Course highlights:

My favorite topics were cellular respiration and photosynthesis. They seemed difficult at first, but they are really quite incredible, which makes them easy to study deeply. I learned the importance of oxygen in most organism's of today's world and about how when free oxygen first escaped into the atmosphere, it was catastrophic for most living life forms of the time. What used to be fatal to life is now essential!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the chapters before coming to class. It is tedious, but it will be worth it. Lectures will make no sense unless you have at least a general idea of what is going on. Study hard! The tests are difficult if you don't study, but are honestly quite simple if you do. Use Dr. Kopp; she is extremely willing and ready to help you succeed.
