    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Liu was the person who rekindled my love for writing. I thought this class would be extremely rigorous and unforgiving, however, I felt more than accomplished once it was over. Summer semester classes tend to be more difficult, due to the limited time. This class was challenging in the way that college should be.

    Course highlights:

The day after submitting a deeply personal in-class essay, Professor Liu pulled me aside. I was scared that she had found my work to not have been sufficient, but to my surprise she was extremely impressed. She was nearly in tears and told me she shared it with her spouse, expressing that he was in awe of my work. I never thought I would have liked writing, nor have ever dabbled in journalism, however, this class brought about a personal questioning of rhetoric and media sources within my sphere of influence. Now, I am beginning to write my first book with this new found love of putting words on paper.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Having a clear schedule to really dive deep into the reading is helpful, especially because of the pop quizzes. They aren't tough, however, the reading is required to pass this class. I thought all of the reading was fun, interesting and easy to follow. The assignments were no longer than six pages and the final was in-class and open book. If you try and show effort, this class is a breeze.
