Pretty easy, overall.
I would recommend this class because it is an easy A, which helps raise your GPA. Most importantly, though, I would take this class because it teaches you the different points of view of history. History is never one dimensional, but a combination of different perspectives, which creates a mural known as history.
Some of the highlights of the year include learning about the different artistic eras. This class taught me that history is not just constructed around "big, popular individuals." History is created by societal movements that are then seen in art. During the Renaissance period, the art was reflected of the feelings of the individuals. In class, I saw a film in which Sister Wendy discusses how the artists of the time gave themselves god-like features because they were looking at the styles of the classics, i.e. the Greeks.

Advice for students:
This course is not difficult per say, but you do need to do the reading. I thought I could blow through the course by simply listening during class discussions, but that caused me to fail the pre-discussion quizzes. If you do the reading and listen in class, there is no reason why you cannot get an A in the course. I also recommend going to office hours (something I did not take advantage of). Mr. Knoll is always willing to meet with students before, during, and after school to help them succeed.
