    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this course! In light of recent events, there has been a lot of ignorance that is shown when it comes to various religions. This course has enlightened me on different religions, the beliefs associated with them, and their various practices. From Judaism, Islam, Yoruba, and much more, I've loved all of the materials that I've learned and I feel as if I have developed a deeper understanding of these. Our teacher makes sure that we are constantly engaged in the class by showing videos, having seminars, lectures, and even encouraging us to visit various places of worship!

    Course highlights:

Learning about the Dreamtime was something that really interested me in this course. The Dreamtime is a common belief of aboriginal people and is known to be one of the oldest religions in the world. I found the Dreamtime to be so interesting because it really emphasized the importance of spirituality. I also really enjoyed my visit at the Beth Abraham Temple in Oakland. It was my first time attending a Jewish Sabbath ceremony and the community welcomed me with open arms and I learned a lot about Judaism. Judaism was what my group and I did our presentation on Judaism. Through this, I learned so much about Judaism and I developed a love for the religion. My favorite thing I learned about Judaism was that people who are members of Judaism like to focus on the present and making the current world a better place rather than solely focusing on doing good things out of fear of the afterlife.

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise that prospective students should take thorough notes and study these notes consistently. This course is one of my favorites that I have taken at O'Dowd the past four years so I would also advise that prospective students should take it very seriously. This course really enlightens people to other cultures and makes them more aware of their practices. Prospective students should go to this class with an open mind and ready to learn and fully embrace all that they have learned.
