Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry may seem like a scary subject, but Dr. Deanda can make one fear it a lot less. His love for chemistry shines through his lectures and relates lessons to every day life. Do yourself a favor and read ahead and write down any questions that you may have! His lectures are rather fast paced so it's good to get a basic understanding of it beforehand. Nevertheless, he'll thoroughly explain any misunderstood concept.

    Course highlights:

This was a chemistry class; therefore I learned about chemistry. From being able to read the periodic table to finding osmotic pressure, this class was fascinating to me because I understood behaviors, and theories that applied to atoms. However, this class taught me a lot about myself as well. I learned how to manage my time wisely as well as to not be afraid to ask questions. This class taught me that hard work pays off and memorizing isn't always enough-- one can memorize all the formulas as well as constants but will go nowhere if he/she doesn't understand how to apply them.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask questions as soon as you don't understand something, that way you won't be lost in the future. Don't be afraid to ask questions no matter how "dumb" you think they are. Learn to like/appreciate the subject; it'll make learning about it a lot more interesting. Do yourself the favor and do the homework-- it's worth points and makes good practice! Form study groups-- not only will you make new friends but canl also help another.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend it because it is easy to learn from somebody who clearly loves what they are teaching. Doctor De Anda made chemistry easy to understand and is a very good educator. There was plenty of hands-on material as well.

    Course highlights:

Professor De Anda had awesome philosophies to add to the class that made the lecture material a little less dry. In the lab portion, we were able to synthesize aspirin and learn various techniques of separating mixtures that we were a lot of fun.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If the textbook is your only platform for information then it may be difficult to understand some concepts, especially on the quantum level. Having video interpretations and other models really helps clear up a discrepancy that you may have so try seeking supplemental instruction if possible.
