Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because the lesson plans were very clear and concise. At first I was intimidated by the thought of studying chemistry, but there was nothing to be confused or worried about here. It is a great introduction to basic concepts in the subject, as well as an introduction to how these concepts apply to the medical field. Chemistry is a requirement for nursing students who intend on graduating with a BSN, and I would highly recommend taking this course before microbiology, anatomy, and physiology. I find that topics covered in those other science prerequisite courses make a lot more sense after having delved into organic chemistry.

    Course highlights:

In this course, I learned how to do metric conversions. I was even given nursing examples, such as questions that asked to convert milligrams to tablets for a patient. I learned about neat molecular structures, and one of the highlights was getting to play with these models and build a variety of structures. Doing assignments in the lab was also very fun as we did several experiments, such as extracting strawberry DNA. A major highlight of this course was how invested my professor was in her students. She genuinely cared for the success of all her students, and she was very encouraging. I not only learned chemistry in this course, but I walked away with some important life lessons as well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students to definitely take this course before microbiology, anatomy, and physiology if you are a student going into nursing or a similar field. I didn't do that, but after taking this course I learned that it would have been best to take this one first. This course offered supplemental instruction, so I would also highly recommend that students attend those meetings whether they are falling behind or need to cover a topic several more times for review.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor breaks down the entire chapter during the class. He provides numerous examples and does not go on until all the students have had their questions answered. Dr. Jones is very approachable and is always available for students.

    Course highlights:

This course is difficult but that is of no surprise. However, it was enjoyable as the professor always managed to have students lighten up and be comfortable with the material. His constant reviews and examples were more than what most professors do.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to review all your notes daily.
