    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is absolutely life-changing and it really helped me examine myself and my behaviors, helping me to become a better person. Dr. Tammy Ruff is an incredible teacher and this course was probably the most important class I have taken in my college education thus far. I believe it should be added to the General Education Core classes because it truly taught me so much about myself and others and helped me to become a better person. It was a hard class, but not in a bad way and not because of the amount of work... it was hard because it pushed me to look within and strive towards being the best version of myself that I can possibly be, and that is one of the most important parts of our journey through this life.

    Course highlights:

This course changed my life and opened my eyes to the inner workings of myself and others. It helped me understand why people behave in certain ways and encouraged me to be more empathetic of others, even when I am at odds with that person or their beliefs. It taught me to be more self-aware, as well as increasing my awareness of others and their mental and emotional needs. I learned to remember that every single individual on this planet has an incredibly complex life story that I cannot even begin to imagine, which only encourages me even more towards an empathetic and compassionate mindset.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The best study tip I can give is this: 1) be willing to get out of your comfort zone, and 2) be ready and willing to do some soul searching and looking within, because that is the basis for the majority of the homework in this course and it could truly change your life for the better.
