    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

There is an emphasis on critical thinking and assessing information to form your own opinion as opposed to teachers who push their opinions on the students. Allowing open dialogue in the classroom to express individual views broadens the students' perspectives on issues.

    Course highlights:

Becoming interested and excelling in a subject area where I previously had no interest at all was the highlight of this course for me. I am not a political person, nor do I pay particular attention to politics. The greatest lessons don't necessarily come from textbooks. In a heightened election year, this course was a first hand experience on how differences of opinions can divide people, and how quickly people with shared views support one another.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be specific in outlining your chapters; don't just answer the HW questions, provide your view in addition to the facts; study a little bit each day, it is a lot of content to wait for the last minute; keep an open mind; listen to others and understand from where they derive as well.
