Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Pierce is very straightforward. Do the work and you will pass. There are 4 papers and then a 10 page final. Each paper builds up to your final. You will have to read 1984 and that is what your final paper will be about.

    Course highlights:

This class opened my eyes to a lot of things such as hidden agendas and proproganda in everything that surrounds us.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you take this course, watching the film 1984 might help you along while reading the book. I know it did for me.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I learned a lot about writing concisely and accurately in this class. Professor McGarry is straightforward. If you write badly, she will tell you and she will help you improve. However, she always attempts to understand your point of view. She cares about her students' success. Her whole class is centered on preparing you to write like a professional.

    Course highlights:

I learned to summarize two opposing views of an argumentative topic into one concise page. I never had to chop down my writing so much before. This class stretched me, but I definitely became a better writer.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read every single document the professor tells you to read. Underline, highlight, and annotate interesting points on those documents. Think about them. Do not become emotionally involved in the dispute. Instead, think rationally and write rationally. When Professor McGarry tells you that your concepts are good but your sentences are bad, go to her office hours and ask how to fix your work.
