    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I learned a lot about writing concisely and accurately in this class. Professor McGarry is straightforward. If you write badly, she will tell you and she will help you improve. However, she always attempts to understand your point of view. She cares about her students' success. Her whole class is centered on preparing you to write like a professional.

    Course highlights:

I learned to summarize two opposing views of an argumentative topic into one concise page. I never had to chop down my writing so much before. This class stretched me, but I definitely became a better writer.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read every single document the professor tells you to read. Underline, highlight, and annotate interesting points on those documents. Think about them. Do not become emotionally involved in the dispute. Instead, think rationally and write rationally. When Professor McGarry tells you that your concepts are good but your sentences are bad, go to her office hours and ask how to fix your work.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Ghaffari is an awesome teacher! She selected great books that all tied into one another are affordable to the student.

    Course highlights:

I learned ways of analyzing books and consider the context in which they were written to better understand them. We learned about a few important character archetypes that are seen in numerous novels.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to read and write. In this class you will be expected to write two essays, neither are particularly difficult if you do the reading.
