Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

In this class I learned to branch out and explore new mediums besides just pencil. On top of that I also was able to develop a more in depth understanding of value, space, angles, and line weight. It was a rigorous but very rewarding class!

    Course highlights:

I think the most helpful areas that I learned about were creating a wide range of values in my composition as well as learning how to create atmospheric perspective. These things helped me to show more depth in my drawings and to create a convincing final piece.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In this class it's important to be able to manage how much time you spend on your assignments. Drawings here aren't as simple as finishing them in a few days and you need to spend an appropriate amount of time between doing the projects and making sure you understand the material.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The class is essential to your advancement at the school and as an artist. As taught by Professor Kofke, it's an even more refreshing course..

    Course highlights:

My foundation skills improved tremendously through taking this class. Professor Kofke does a great job of making it a personal yet informative approach to the subject. All of the assignments he offers can be taken in the direction and it's a great time to experiment and really bring out the best in your pieces. The mock artist residency final is an extremely helpful resource that should not be taken for granted!

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure that you complete all of your sketchbook homework. They're set up to make your project pieces stronger and supplement some of the later lessons. If applied correctly the methods you learn from those will definitely show through in your project pieces.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class has reinforced my foundations skills tremendously.

    Course highlights:

This course was a delight from beginning to end. Professor Kofke starts very general, but allows students to branch out in their own directions in terms of projects. He also brings a lot of professional lessons and tips for succeeding out in the artist world, especially towards the final with the mock application to art residencies. Overall, I really enjoyed the professor's relaxed yet personal approach to the course and would definitely recommend him if you ever get the chance to take him.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do all of the sketchbook entries and try to apply as many of the concepts from them to your project pieces. The extra effort really shows through on the end product.
