Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

In this class I learned to branch out and explore new mediums besides just pencil. On top of that I also was able to develop a more in depth understanding of value, space, angles, and line weight. It was a rigorous but very rewarding class!

    Course highlights:

I think the most helpful areas that I learned about were creating a wide range of values in my composition as well as learning how to create atmospheric perspective. These things helped me to show more depth in my drawings and to create a convincing final piece.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In this class it's important to be able to manage how much time you spend on your assignments. Drawings here aren't as simple as finishing them in a few days and you need to spend an appropriate amount of time between doing the projects and making sure you understand the material.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Rodecker expects students document the amount of time spent outside of class for an assignment. He can be very meticulous when it comes to a student's work and his material can be quite complicated. If you ask a SCAD student about him, chances are they'll go on about how hard his classes are. Personally, I chalked this up him trying to prepare us for what the real world would expect of us. But he was never rude and he was always straightforward with us when it came to our assignments. When it came to grading, he didn't compare students' work to each other, but instead paid attention to whether or not we followed his instructions. So, yeah, I definitely recommend that students take his Drawing II class.

    Course highlights:

A lot of what I learned in this class were new techniques. Professor Rodecker would show us examples of art techniques used to better render our art assignments and he also showed us how to better draw the human form.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

When you get a new assignment in Professor Rodecker's class, it's always good to plan how many hours a day you're going to work on it. And always read the assignment sheet he hands out, that's what tells you exactly what he expects you to turn in.
