Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend Bio 121 to students that intend to study any of the applied health sciences. This course would also be ideal for students with a sincere interest in how the human body works on the molecular level. Although Bio 121 has potential to be a difficult course, Professor Chafika Boudiaf dedicates herself to breaking down and explaining course material thoroughly to ensure that all students develop an understanding.

    Course highlights:

There were many interesting topics covered in this course, but perhaps one of the best highlights for me was learning about genetically modified organisms. I learned not only about how they are produced, but also that in a typical grocery store they are nearly impossible to avoid. Additionally, integrating the DNA of one organism into another to create a more ideal crop or food source may be cause for concern for food allergy sufferers and it is therefore important to read the fine print on food labels.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The key to my success in Bio 121 was that I always read the chapter being covered in class beforehand. This allowed me to follow along with the lecture with great ease. In addition, completing the reading before the chapter was covered in class allowed me to isolate which topics I did not thoroughly understand and prepare questions in advance to gain more clarity.
