    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I am not a STEM person and I was afraid of what I would find going into this class, but Dr. Ward is great at making Chemistry accessible for students without oversimplifying. His sarcastic sense of humor helps keep things lively also.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were the scent of the week, in which we smelled a chemical meant to evoke an everyday item and guess at its' identity and the labs.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Meet with Dr. Ward outside of class, he is very accesible and will answer all of your questions.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it really pushes your knowledge of chemistry to the next level and makes you think deeply about the smaller things that you would normally pass right on by.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was taking what we learned during class time and applying it to real world, everyday situations. We talked about fats vs trans-fats, and why your car starts, and other things you never think too much about.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I would give is to know that when taking this course it will be hard, but think about what you're really learning and how you can apply it to your own life and how it will change your perspective on things.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Accelerated Chemistry was a very difficult course, but due to Mr. McLaughlin's teaching and the materials, the AP was manageable and the Qual labs afterwards were great.

    Course highlights:

For me, the highlights of this course were the qual labs. It was great applying things I had learned all year to figure out chemical puzzles.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't let yourself fall behind!! If you have an extra Saturday or Sunday afternoon, make sure that you are completely caught up and completely understand the material so that you can start off the week at the top of your game.
