    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it to someone who enjoys science because if you do Dr. Aguirre is the teacher to go to she makes it where you can get ahead and in class teaches you more than you need to know, she cares about the crazy fun stuff too.

    Course highlights:

One thing that i learned that stuck with was that methylation is a gene silencer, this is due to the fact that they prohibit the DNA from being able to form bonds in those areas. A highlight of the course was around when midterms would have been and Halloween, we were able to dress up for extra credit on the days leading up

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are going to take this course try to get ahead and stay ahead. with all courses actually because each professor moves at a different pace and you could have someone like Dr.Aguirre who was up and running the first day or you could have a professor who does an introduction day and then starts next time or someone whose introduction day is incorporated into a start day.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I chose a middle ground on the recommendation. The topics are cool and super interesting. My advice however, be sure to take the course with a professor other than Dr. Collins. He does not seem to care about life or the success of his students. We are more of a paycheck to him than anything.

    Course highlights:

Broad range of Biology. From Cell Components and Structure to Genetics and Viruses. A student will walk away from the course with a general grasp on the essentials of biology, nothing to in depth, just breaking the surface on many topics.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Take the course. It is extremely satisfying to succeed in one of the basic courses of science. Also, it introduces you to yourself. All the different interactions that make life possible.

    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course if you need a basic understanding of biology. If you are a MSCI major, then you are required to take this. This course is very interesting because you learn about what makes up life essentially.

    Course highlights:

The course was mainly focused on cells and cell biology. We covered all the organelles, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, mitosis, and meiosis.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

First, you absolutely have to go to class and take notes. Notes are essential to passing because Dr. Pierce uses his notes to create the tests. Second, doing the homework is big help too. It is more focused then some of the topics in class. This can really help if you're struggling with a certain part.
