    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you are really serious about Marine Science then stick through this course. If not, get out while you can. It is hard to sit in an classroom at 8am and actually pay attention. All you do in this class is take notes.

    Course highlights:

I gained some information form this course, just get through the rocks and you will do great. I learned how to identify the different rock types and even fossils.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study everyday for this class and read over the powerpoint before he presents so you can ask questions. If you have this course at 8am bring coffee and eat before you go. This course requires a lot of memorization.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a required course for Marine Science majors. Even if it wasn't required, I would still recommend it. This course focuses on the geology aspect of Marine Science. Even if you want to focus on marine life, you should know the geology and how it affects the life that lives there.

    Course highlights:

One thing that I enjoyed about the class is learning about the volcanoes. It is really cool to learn about how they form and the impact they have. Another thing that was really cool to learn about was Snowball Earth. It is a very interesting subject to know about that I otherwise had no knowledge about.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study! It is not a difficult class if you put in the work. It's still not easy but it'll definitely help to study. Also, go tot the teacher if you are stuck. You aren't going to get anywhere if you don't ask for help.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I'm a marine science major, but I personally have an emphasis on biology; geology never really interested me. But, this class definitely got me more into it, and I'm now really interested in oceanography. I would really recommend this course, especially taught by Dr. Hill!

    Course highlights:

I definitely learned so much more than I thought I would. I came into this class thinking to just get it over with because it's a major requirement. But learning abut coastal processes and how certain marine environments are developed kept my interest in the class, so I think that was my main take away from the class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely make note cards when studying for tests. Make them a week before the test for every chapter, and study the chapters individually for a week, then put them all together. This saved me Fall Semester!
