Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Very good course for learning the early parts of American history through the Civil War. Professor Navin clearly has an interest in what he is teaching it and gives the material in a way that makes it interesting to learn.

    Course highlights:

I learned quite a bit on in-depth detail on the history of America up until the end of the Civil War. We discussed different historical perspectives and cause and effect during the early parts of American history and looked at what events shaped the nation early on.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Look over the chapter before the lectures, and definitely take notes from the study guide. He already tells you everything that is going to be on the test by giving a study guide so just use that as your guide in the lectures and it should be an easy A!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

While this is a lecture course, it is very easy to maintain an A in the class if you pay attention and take notes. Dr. Navin will give the class a study sheet before you start each new chapter; take advantage of it and plan your notes out in advance.

    Course highlights:

While I had a basic knowledge of history already pre-civil war, Dr. Navin does a great job of turning what could be a boring lecture into a story that you can't help but be focused on. Instead of learning just strict facts, I learned knew information and perspectives that I hadn't known before.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely take advantage of the study sheet that you receive before the next set of lectures. It helps you focus on what is important in the lecture.
