This class was tough.
Organic chemistry is not necessarily an easy class, it requires a ton of time and practice. But the energy of this instructor somehow made this course not as miserable. He always seemed excited to teach, he was always willing to help. Professor Steward never hesitated to sit with you a few minutes to help you better understand the material.
Although, 2nd year of chemistry is very different from 1st year, I really enjoyed the material taught. Understanding reactions and mechanisms is not an easy task, but once you do, and you get to see it happen in labs is exciting! I guess applying the knowledge learned is what I loved the most. When you see a drink bubble up, or a mixture of compounds change color or form a precipitate, and you actually understand, chemically, why this is happening; it's a great feeling!

Advice for students:
Just like any class you definitely have to STUDY to succeed in this course. But the main thing, I think, is not to get discouraged. If you're having a hard time understanding, don't be hard on yourself, this is NOT an easy class. Step away from the studying if you need too, then come back and try again. You can ask for help, or form study groups, watch videos etc. I had to do all of these!
