Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Taking astronomy itself was a very interesting class to me personally, but Professor Hood made the class 10x more fun and breathtaking. The lessons were very clear and precise, and the way that he vocalized them made each student become more interested in the subject.

    Course highlights:

One of my highlights from this course would be the class trip to the Griffith Observatory. For our project, we had to travel to the observatory and examine multiple parts of the installation. It was great seeing what astronomy was all about in this place.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure that you look over your notes the night after lecture. One of the main points Professor Hood emphasized was that it was important to LEARN not to MEMORIZE, so terms are not a big factor for this course. As long as you understand the basic ideas, you'll be set.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Such a great class. This class is reversed so you learn at your own pace outside of class and review homework during class. It will definitely teach you to be responsible and makes this complex class a lot easier and SO much more enjoyable!

    Course highlights:

The field trip at the end of the class and the great friends you will make from working together in groups.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to read a lot, get organized and dive into the universe of astronomy. My biggest tip is to start sooner than later because most of the work warrants undivided attention. Do this and you will have a successful semester.
