    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course since it's an interesting and fun class! The lectures were very interactive and the labs gave us a chance to apply the concepts we learned. The textbook was also very helpful in keeping up the interest with the course since it was filled with images and charts that made it easier to learn the concepts. The only thing I wish I had known before taking this course was the amount of work I was going to have to put in. But I think for a class like this, many hours of study is necessary.

    Course highlights:

For me, the highlights were the case studies and lab activities since it felt as though we were actual medical professionals utilizing our class knowledge in real-life situations. I definitely learned how hard biological classes can be at the college level. This class was really rewarding though since it was a very challenging and demanding course that made you work for the grade. Through all of it, not only did I learn unique concepts of microbiology, I also learned useful laboratory skills as well as convenient study habits. This class definitely helps you grow your academic study skills and builds your confidence with difficult classes.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

I would say that you should always keep up with the readings. Study the chapters before lecture and always take notes while reading. Add lecture notes as well to the ones you already have. Flashcards are very important in this kind of course and make it easier to learn all of the vocabulary words that are necessary to know when studying diseases and conducting case studies. If possible, go to office hours for any questions and visit the tutoring center or wherever they have tutors available who can help guide you. And don't hesitate to ask any questions during lecture or the lab activities.
