Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Burton was excellent at explaining mathematical concepts. I have always struggled to understand math, but she taught well enough that I could learn with ease. I went into the course annoyed that I would have to take more math classes in order to get where I wanted to go. She assigned a lot of homework, but practice makes perfect. Everything was laid out well, there were no surprises. She would often offer a period of grace for homework/take home quizes.

    Course highlights:

She covered topics such as equations, function notation, polynomials, coordinate graphing, rational equations, radical equations, quadratic functions, exponential and logarithmic functions and inequalities. There was a quiz every week, and she was always clear about what we could expect. Professor Burton didn't limit class to simply lectures, she allowed us to work with each other and write on the board ourselves. It was a combination of independent and hands-on learning. I appreciated that she attended to each students needs and made sure that every question was answered. She took time to go over topics so we might understand better. She believed it was important for us to learn the material before we jump right into the next chapter. Highly recommend!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Simply turn your homework in on time and be thorough. When you study, most of the information that will be on a test/quiz is already on the worksheets that you would have done the past week. Make sure to look at them!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Definitely an intense course with a lot of homework. Attendance is essential to passing, and so is dedication to getting assignments done on time. Instructor is strict, yet understanding.

    Course highlights:

I gained enough knowledge in this course to go on to take Math 111. I learned math concepts such as the quadratic formula and rational equations.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make use of the math resource center and start early on the homework!
