Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because in this class I learned how to not only look at things but to analyze and figure out its deeper meaning and the exact point the creator of the thing was trying to make.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was when I learned how to deeply analyze pictures, paintings and poems and reading the novel "Mans Search for Meaning". Before I took this course a picture was simply just a image with no meaning but after I learned that pictures are still images that capture moments a tell a story. The novel "Mans Search for Meaning" was interesting because it helped me understand that everyone's meaning in life is different. The choices that we make are always in our control and we ultimately determine our own future. I highly recommend this class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

In this course I would say that it is very important that you are comprehending the pieces that you are given to read because somethings can be tricky and requires a lot of deep thinking. I would also recommend that you study at least 1 hour everyday using index cards and sticky notes. Lastly, I would recommend that whenever you don't understand something or you get confused always ask questions!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is class is a good introduction to the humanities and covers a range of diverse topics including art, architecture, feminism, horror, existentialism, and many more. Each week in class is guaranteed to provide you with a challenging new topic or subject to examine and discuss. While it is a very interesting class, it is also a somewhat difficult one; expect many writing and reading assignments. Still, as long as you contribute to discussion, and appreciate the material presented, the class can be both fun and rewarding; and for these reasons I would recommend it.

    Course highlights:

Perhaps the best highlights of this course were the large variety of subjects provided and the engaging classroom discussions. Through these two attributes, by the end of the class, I had gained an entirely new understanding of art, literature, poetry, architecture, and even philosophy. This class does a great job of teaching you how to look more deeply into things in order to find their true, underlying meaning.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this class, it is of utmost importance to keep an open mind. You will be required to deeply examine, discuss, and write about a great deal of topics under the broad umbrella of the humanities. You must resist your first instinct to take the meaning of things at their apparent, surface level. Try your best to always look deeper and see the bigger picture. As far as studying goes, reading the material before or immediately after class will go a long way in helping you complete your papers and projects. If a part of the text seems confusing, Sparknotes is your friend as far as short, easy to understand summaries goes.
