Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Ms. Herrell is an excellent teacher, and uses many different activities to help explain concepts. The combination of many different styles (videos, making physical models, group activities, many different sources for extra credit) made this class interesting - so much that I made sure I had her again for my next bio course.

    Course highlights:

Because the coursework had such diversity, I felt it never got boring. I walked away with an even larger passion for biology - we read so many interesting articles that Ms. Herrell would be excited about, and in turn, I would be too. Taking this course definitely fed my curiosity and gave me the tools I needed to expand my knowledge on my own.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read, read, read! Context is key, and this not about small details or memorizing terms - but about understanding processes on the whole. The more reading you do, the more everything else falls into place.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because not only is it fun and interesting but you can also apply this to your everyday life and everything that you learn in that class will be helpful to you for the rest of your life, which is not something you can say about every course you take.

    Course highlights:

You learn stuff from viruses to genetics to DNA to carbs. There's a ton of information in this class that you'll learn and it's very interesting and the professor makes it fun, especially in labs.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This class has much more material that you would think going into it. There's a lot of stuff to learn and it goes straight into it from the beginning. To succeed in this course, make sure you are completing the homeworks, going to labs, going to class, and making sure you understand the material and the meaning of everything. There's some difficult concepts but you can always ask the professor for help when you need it. Everything she provides to you including the class notes, labs and homeworks have information you need and really prepare you for what's on the test so it's crucial that you complete those because they will really help you and your understanding of the material. Make sure you prepare yourself for the DNA portion of the class, this is the most difficult section with the most material to learn. This will be when you need to invest more of your time studying and really trying to understand everything because it is difficult but it's also very fun.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because this professor is amazing. There is a lot of work, but that is what helps you keep up with learning all of the material. I've never been a huge fan of science, but this class really helps me to understand it better, all while being interested in it as well! Professor Kim makes this class great.

    Course highlights:

I have learned so much in this course so far, but the main thing is how to properly manage my time. This is such an important skill for anyone to have, not only students. The amount of work really urges you to spread it all out and make sure you are not procrastinating with all of it.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

The advice that I would give to students considering this course is make sure you have enough time for the work outside of the classroom. If you are working full-time, Kim's class may not be the best choice just because of the amount of outside work assigned, plus the studying that needs to be done. If you choose to take this class, make sure you keep up with everything and do not wait until the last minute to do your work.
