Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Wolesensky is a wonderful teacher and enjoys her work. The material for the most part is easy to understand and the homework is easy to do if you write notes. Also, she gives a lot of chances for extra credit.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about formatting graphs, which I feel is the most useful information I learned in the class as it helps a lot in the real world.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always do the extra credit, even if you feel like you don't need to. There will always be something that trips you up and the extra credit could mean the difference between failing and passing as I learned.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Wilkinson (her name is actually Rachelle, not Rachel) was a delight to work with. Math can be so terribly abstract, and I am not much of an abstract thinker, so I was worried that I would have difficulty understanding it. However, Professor Wilkinson has a genius for explaining things and giving examples in such a way that even the hardest, most abstract concepts became clear. She does give homework; it was a little annoying because she makes you submit it as a PDF, so you either have to scan it or type it and that takes a lot of time. She requires the use of a statistics software called Minitab. You can buy Minitab but I wouldn't bother, as it is available in the computer labs. She also had us sort ourselves into groups and do group quizzes once a week, which started out as a bother but actually did help. It takes a lot of work to make a good grade, but it isn't hard to do- she lets you bring one handwritten page of notes to the tests, so if you are thorough and do plenty of studying you should do fine. Overall it's a great class!

    Course highlights:

I simply adored learning about statistical concepts. I learned about probability, chi-square tests, outliers, p-values and so, so much more. It was a powerful feeling to analyse data, and I developed a love of statistics that might drive me into that field. I would say a highlight of this course was working with hypothesis tests. They got a little tedious at times but it was fun to be able to test an assumption even when you didn't have all of the information. Another fun concept was the Central Limit Theorem, which I will let Professor Wilkinson describe for you (she gets very excited about it.)

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Work hard. Work really hard. Do all of the homework in advance, check all of the problems before you start working to make sure that they don't require Minitab so you don't end up running to the computer lab at 3:00 on a Saturday. Write your page of notes neatly and make sure you have all the info. Don't just rely on your notes- make sure you have practiced the concepts. Also, have fun! Statistics is super cool!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it is useful not to just get credit for college, but for everyday life, too.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to use statistics to compare the prices of two supermarket or score for football players.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Learn with passion, it's fun! College courses are not easy so get ready to spend sometime on it and you can do it!
