    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I believe this course taught me so much about science in general. I also think this course helps me to prepare what science will be like in college.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the labs. I learned that through everything you must be precise about what you are doing. Although you're being precise, it is okay to have fun.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be in class as much as you can. If you miss a day it may be difficult to catch up. Also take good notes and always study before the tests!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Not only is Mr. Waggoner an excellent teacher, he sticks with struggling students to make sure that they not only pass his class, but do it with a high enough grade to put on college transcripts. He is one of the kindest, most understanding teachers at Hartley, and I would highly recommend this course.

    Course highlights:

Learning the basics of chemistry along with some OCHEM, really surprised me at how advanced this course would turn out to be. Through an active learning environment, I never felt left behind whether we were learning something new, or just reviewing for a test.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Really take time to go over your notes, and take advantage of the time he gives you to review and the ability to go see him after or before school. Don't get distracted while he's teaching because a lot of the things you need to know are not on his slides, but things that he says during lectures.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Honors Chemistry was a challenging class that pushes you to work hard and understand what you can. This is a great class to take because I believe it has prepared me for the rigorous course load to come in college, and interact with my teachers/professors for help.

    Course highlights:

I learned so much about the chemicals around us, how they interact, what they are madeup of, the math behind predicting chemical behavior, and the thought process of evaluating and solving chemical equations. There were a lot of concepts and lessons that I learned throughout chemistry. Stoichiometry was the hardest but most interesting as I like math.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always stay attentive and participate in class. Be prepared to review what you have learned each night after class and write extra notes and questions that you may have. Go to the teacher with these questions and ask him for help and clarification. Use the teacher and classmates as resources to help you understand each unit to the best of your ability.
