Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend PSYCH 100 because it provides discussion of social interactions and how the human mind works. It requires minimal effort if you already have an interest in the topic. PSYCH 100 fulfills requirements for a social science course and is worth 4 credit hours. It is the perfect course to take if you enjoy taking surveys and online quizzes. It is not very heavy on reading, but I would recommend opening the textbook to be prepared for class discussion and exams.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this courses were actually participating in psychological studies. These were usually activities or online games which were followed by a survey or a series of questions. The psychological studies were fun and easy to complete which helped my grade as well. They were hosted by graduate students and professors at the university and were usually held in a computer lab or a room in the psychology building. From these studies, I learned about various techniques that are still implemented by researchers such as "blinding" which means to make sure the participant does not know what the study is about until it is completed. This technique helps ensure that the participant's response is genuine. The course also had a discussion portion and group quizzes which helped me better memorize terms and concepts for the exam. A lot of what I learned about the human brain and mind tricks helped me be a better student as well. I learned that there are many ways to study for an exam: learning things out of context vs. in context; practicing verbally vs. written; group study vs. independent. A lot of psychology involves discovering learning techniques, such as cognitive learning which interested me most.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest to go to class regularly and participate as much as possible. Review the lecture slides before discussion days and quiz days. Review the content on your own to do well on the exams. Don't stress if you don't complete all the readings. A lot of the content in the textbook is covered in lecture. Review examples of applied concepts because these will most likely be a part of your exam and discussion.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is only difficult if you don't put in the time. It is a prerequisite that is easily accomplished over winter break.

    Course highlights:

I supplemented my knowledge from high school psychology with the information from this course.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention during the online lectures and do all of the readings before taking the weekly tests. The participation points and the assignments are easy to obtain but the tests require a little work.
