    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

More often than not, this course will be a requirement for your major and future courses such as organic chemistry and biochemistry. This class is tough but the information can be very useful. Professor Ray is the most passionate professor I have ever had and will do his best to help you in chemistry. It is hard to not fall behind in any class but for this class you especially have to be caught up and even tough it is an 100 level course, the things you learn in it can be pretty challenging. students retaking this course is not rare.

    Course highlights:

Chemistry 104 is a bridge between organic chemistry, especially in the last couple of lessons. We learn about acids and bases which can be difficult. At the time I didn't like it but we did a project in his class which looked at a sample person's genome and decided whether a drug was going to affect them positively or negatively. Although it was a tedious group project, it kind of applied the biological (MCB 150) and CHEM 104 components together which was neat to see.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely stay on top of things and go to office hours. Do not be intimidated by your professor and other students because the grade you are receiving are for you and you only. He has extra review sessions on Fridays and you should go to those. For any hard class, you should form a small study group with other people who are taking the course. although this sounds cliche it will help you a lot.
