Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It was a lot of work, but the big project gives opportunity for a lot of learning on designing and bringing innovative solutions to life. I really enjoyed the hands on experience, and it was nice working with a group to see an idea through to a working prototype.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about different manufacturing processes, such as rapid protoyping, machining, and casting. Including different types and how they are used in industry. This was along with learning all I had to with my team to work on our semester project, which is creating an innovative mechanical solution to any problem, very little restriction on what this is, it just requires professor approval in the beginning of the semester, and completion often requires learning skills outside what is taught.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Communicate well with your team, start the project and get a prototype early, often it will take time to perfect and this is easiest with something to work with. Be wary of places where things can go wrong and plan ahead.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It is a great class. Teaches you a lot about manufacturing processes which you will run into in industry. However, Flachsbart can be frustrating. Definitely should be worth more credit hours.

    Course highlights:

    Manufacturing processes. CAD skills. DOE.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't wait until the week before the project presentations to work on your project.
