You learn a lot about argumentation theory. Must attend class to pass. The take home exams are really the only way you earn points in this class, and they are basically 2 page papers due every week.
Analyzing famous political speeches, looking at court room trials, rhetorical devices, fallacies, lying and deception, implicatures, etc.

Jacobs is not the most entertaining lecturer, but his class has made me a better writer and makes me think critically. If you go to class (don't use your phone in class), do each take home exam (you must turn in 10/14) and go to office hours if you're confused about a topic, you will do fine.
