Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Semmler Teaches the subject in a very enthused manner, which definitely makes the student excited to learn. The material taught in this class is also highly interesting. This class has information which can be used in every day life.

    Course highlights:

As for highlights of this course, there are many. Professor Semmler had us watch The Big Lebowski in class; needless to say, this professor has a great sense of humor. Another highlight would be that we learned about deception and how to detect it. What he taught us about deception detection was by far the most interesting thing I think I have ever learned in college so far. We were taught the basics of reading the face and how to decipher if someone is telling the truth or not; very useful in every day life.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in class and participate! The conversations in class are very informative. Professor Semmler also has weekly discussion posts in D2L, make sure you are actually reading the material along with actually doing the discussions.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Communication Symbols and Society is a great introductory course to semiotics and their relationship to persuasion.

    Course highlights:

The course is undoubtedly enjoyable in part because one chapter (that we study) of the textbook is entitled "How to Start a Cult," exhibiting the step-by-step process necessary for starting a cult. Of course, the point is not to teach cult management, but rather to apply the persuasion, semiotic, and communication theories studied during the term.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Dr. Semmler is an incredible professor, and gives you all the tools necessary to succeed. All the students must do is pay attention, take good notes, and study for exams.
