    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although it is a requirement, I do recommend taking it for your own benefit. It is hard, but applicable to many subjects. I do suggest having a study partner and working with the teacher. She is tough, but fair. I would definitely take the class again if I weren't being graded on the materials. The information is fun and interesting, especially when discussing the human brain. The beginning Modules are a bit technical, however the class is structured in a way that has the easier materials at the end. I advise using all of your stamina for the first chapters, for it is the most scientific. The later chapters cover concepts that would be more familiar to Psychology students, such as; addition, sleep deprivation and depression. The current T.A is another useful resource. The entire team of educators try to work together with difficult classes like this when scheduling exams for other classes. There have been times where other Psychology professors, delay, move the dates of exams because they understand the difficulty student have with this class. Overall, I would defiantly recommend this course, with this professor.

    Course highlights:

The chapters on the structure of the brain and how perception is formatted was a class favorite. Although there is a lot of material to go over, the information in these chapters are very interesting. I personally was interested in the chapter over addiction, because we got to have an deep look into how the chemicals in the brain react to different drugs. One thing that I still remember learning, is about what the blood brain barrier is and how the half life of a drug effects the way the body absorbs it. That knowledge will forever remain with me.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I do not suggest ever taking another difficult course the same semester that you take this. If you can, try to take either all electives, or minimum classes. Taking another difficult subject like Statistics or Test and Measurements is not a good idea. A course like this requires focus and time after class. Ideally, you would want to have a flexible schedule with lots of down time for study and collaboration with others. It would be very unfortunate to fail this course and have to learn this material again at the end of your degree plan.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

When I started this course I was afraid it was going to be really hard, but Mari did an amazing job teaching the class, it wasn't hard and it wasn't easy and this class is a class you definitely need to study for but as long as you study you will do great, she also offers a decent amount of extra credit.

    Course highlights:

I gained better understanding of the human brain and how the brain functions.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study the power points and read the chapters.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I've learned more in this course than in the entire history of all other psychology curriculum. Dr. Love is a genius and is passionate about her topics, generating a contagious desire to learn more.

    Course highlights:

I gained vast knowledge in the chemistry of certain neural functions in both healthy and ill humans.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the textbook. Pay attention during lecture and make sure to read beforehand--it's a lot of information to be loaded onto you at once.
