    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Very knowledgeable professor with very calm communication methods and understanding.

    Course highlights:

This class will teach you all of the key fundamentals of mechanical properties (which for any mechanical engineer is invaluable) as well as introduce you to the concepts of stress and strain and their effects on various materials.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

PUT IN MORE WORK THAN I DID. I spent about 3-5 hours a week on preparation for this course. I consistently felt unprepared but could not afford the extra time due to a hectic schedule. This course is going to be integral for any engineering career and you should start strong and get the basics (yes i know it doesn't feel basic) solidified in your arsenal of engineering skills early as there will be very little room for catching up in the future. EVERYTHING WILL BE RELEVANT AGAIN.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This professor is the best at theory. No one else even comes close. I also took him for MENG 3309 Mechanical Systems Design. There was no question that he could not answer extremely well in his classes. His primary job is as a real working design engineer and teaches engineering classes as a way of giving some of his knowledge back to the masses. Now his classes were not easy by any means, these are higher level classes after all, but if you studied hard you would be OK.

    Course highlights:

These classes are some of the first classes where you finally start applying all the years of math and science into real world applications. This class is not for slackers but if you really put time into it you will be OK. Mechanics of materials was mainly about stresses, stresses on objects under load, as well as other topics and Systems Design was about safety factors and satisfying the physics of the problem will minimizing the materials needed to do the job.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take too many classes if you plan on taking this course, or if you must for whatever reason spread them out because this class wants a lot of your attention and you WILL spend hours studying for this class.
