    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class was exceptionally fun, helping open my ears to the amazing world of music, whether it's classical or modern. Being interested in music already, the many terms and explanations aided in my understanding.

    Course highlights:

The many listening activities were entertaining to listen to and analyze, despite being tested on them later on. Also, the 4 online concerts that were administered were diverse and full of great emotion.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you read the chapters and listen to all audio excerpts. Also, don't just listen to the music, but engage with it, try to feel it and decipher it. Brent Wilson is a great and humorous professor that will help you in any issues, don't be afraid to ask!

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I enjoyed it, but I wish there could have been more of a focus on modern music.

    Course highlights:

I learned the sounds and origins of many different instruments a standard orchestra consists of.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to set aside time to read the text book, making note of important eras in music which influenced the way genres developed. That is also helpful for taking the tests and quizzes.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this course because it only focused on certain music and I was looking to learn about all types. I wanted to broaden my music genre knowledge but it only broader it a little bit.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how music began and the progression of how music started. I am a religious person who enjoys orchestral music and I got to learn about its beginnings.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Live concert reports were mandatory so make sure you set time aside and plan to go to them.
