Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class to any student that is determined and hard-working. This class is set up in a flipped classroom manner, meaning that the professor acts as more of a guide for the students who do most of the learning outside of the classroom. There is a large amount of responsibility on the students because they are responsible for their own learning experience. There are very few assignments in the course, meaning that tests are weighted very heavily and are, therefore, very important. This professor also employs the use of Entangled Learning which organizes students into groups called "communities of practice" or "COPs" in order to more effectively learn and understand the material that will be on the tests. These groups are very helpful when all of the students participated.

    Course highlights:

This course provided a very in-depth view into the world of biology. I gained a much better understanding of the plant and animal kingdoms during this course, however, that was not all that I took away from this learning experience. The way that this course was designed, the students were placed into study groups called communities and being part of these communities taught the students valuable lessons in teamwork. Also, since this class was a flipped classroom, it helped the students to accept greater responsibility for their work and to develop stronger work ethic.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to be successful in this course, you must read the textbook and study the material covered in every class. Also attending class is a must. While the information is learned out of class, the questions that the students are supposed to bring to class from the reading and the questions that the professor prompts the class with are very helpful in learning and understanding the material. Also, participate in the Entangled Learning communities. It is very helpful to be able to discuss topics and information about the material with peers.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Now that DR is better this semester, I do recommend taking his class. He is more organized and does a little different teaching style.

    Course highlights:

The in class activities are the most helpful. He also offers this CoP thing where you get extra credit points for working with your study group.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be on top of the reading and try new study tips. Also, try CoP! It personally didn't work for me, but it could work for you.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it, because it was a class a learned more material in than any other course I've ever taken. Also, the professor although insanely difficult is one of the most brilliant and interesting professors I have had to date.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course was when he talked about his wife battle with cancer. I learned all about general biology and gave me the strong basis I now have for my science major.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay really good attention in class. Take detailed notes. Study a little bit every day. Go to his study sessions to have questions answered.
