    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Gen Chem 1010 provides an excellent introduction to chemistry that is feasible but goes into intricate detail that requires studying and hard work in order to achieve a high grade.

    Course highlights:

This course looks at basic chemistry concepts and dives deeper into each concept, providing great details about processes and principles by which chemistry functions. Examples of topics are measurement, functions of matter, chemical properties, molecular structures, chemical compounds, polarity, and intermolecular forces.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely take notes in class, do the homework, and review the material a little each day. Do not wait until last minute to study as the material is too dense!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Hwu is a very kind man who is passionate about chemistry and also learning about his students. His excitement when he lectured ensured everyone paid attention! However, he does teach at a level where some basic knowledge of chemistry is required to understand the lectures.

    Course highlights:

My favorite things to learn in this course had to be about thermochemistry. I love when math can be used to explain what happens in chemical reactions - and it was a part of chemistry I was able to understand very well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You have to do all of the homework problems on your own and then some extra work (on the provided old exams, etc) to do well. This class is not one you can pass without putting in effort.
