Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Flower's class was always very well organized and was very clear on what he expected. I think the best part was class collaboration. We always had group GoogleDocs going so we could complete the practice questions as a group for review before tests and quizzes which I think really helped. I love online classes so for anyone who is into online classes would appreciate his thoroughness. Although not just a give me A, if you do put in the work it is possible. I would highly recommend to anyone in a business major or the like, where you can choose the science you take.

    Course highlights:

This class was very organized and it was very clear what was expected. I loved that, especially as it was an online course. I learned a lot more about the stars than just the constellations. The lab for this course had us out in the botanical gardens using high definition telescopes and it was a great experience. We were allowed to create experiments of our own, logical or illogical which I thought was very different for most science classes and I thought it was great to be able to come up with your own ideas and testing them.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Online classes take a certain amount of organization and preparedness. Just because you don't go to class does not mean that you don't have to put in the work. You definitely have to put in the work for this course, but an A is definitely possible. Set up group GoogleDocs and do the review questions they will definitely help.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I have taken quite a few classes at Clemson University, and to this day I still shudder (physically) when I think about my online Astronomy course. Not only was the professor way too brilliant, which makes asking for simplicity in an answer a no-go, but he also made his questions astronomically difficult. I wish I'd known how difficult this class was prior to scheduling myself to take it. The course did not focus on the generalities of Astronomy, but so many specific formulas and equations that my head still spins. Remember *online course. I couldn't really ask for help on learning equations and many of the other students didn't understand either.

    Course highlights:

This course did, however, teach me something about studying. When I suffered from "holy heck, why did he ask that question about a nonsensical picture with no description," I realized that Dr. Flowers actually cared about the individual following his directions. In his syllabus, he clearly states that the student should look at the pictures and see where it correlates to the textbook. I took it as a joke, and my grades were not funny. I had to bust my butt to bring my grade up, and I am glad I learned it early on, because it only gets harder.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take time to read the syllabus and see where the professor highlights. If there is a paper, do it early and send it in to get checked prior to the deadline (this can be a ten point difference on your final grade). Remember that you pay to go to class, so do it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was the first online course I took at Clemson University and I absolutely hated it. The textbook was huge and we tried too much at once it felt like. Plus, he wasn't that helpful at all. I would email him saying I didn't understand this or that and he would usually insist I just rewatch the videos on his site. It was the worst experience I had at Clemson.

    Course highlights:

Honestly? I don't think I can recall learning anything other than the fact that I did not want to take anymore astronomy courses.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't take it online. Try to take it in a course setting if you can. I think that's what messed me up.
