    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is extremely lecture heavy and very dense in the topics. However, if you pay attention, take notes, print out the lecture slides, record lectures, and ask questions when seem things unclear, then it is a doable course. Prof Kauffman is by no means an "easy" professor; however, this is a course that many nursing schools require as a prerequisite. If you want to be challenged and in the meantime be rewarded with knowledge and information then this is the class for you!

    Course highlights:

Prof Kauffman is an encyclopedia of information. If you ask her any question, she will explain the answer to you in-depth until she sees that you understand the information. She expects you to know the information front and back and in its full-depth, so be sure to not just study flashcards or definitions, but make sure you are studying how and why things function the way they do.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study whenever possible! If you have time, skim the chapters that will be covered in lecture quickly before class starts. Don't read the entire textbook because it contains a lot of information, but focus on reading the sections that pertain to what you will be tested on. Practice the essays multiple times, until you fully understand what the essay is asking and you have fully answered what the question is asking.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The study guides are life savers! Most of the questions from midterms come from the study guides and the PowerPoints are clues on what tests are next.

    Course highlights:

Interactive study sessions. Kauffman always has a game regarding the material studied and sometimes it can account for extra credit.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask questions. Always. If you need help ask, during office hours or with your lab partners, or anyone in class. Again study groups. This is a hard class but it can be done. Some people really get this stuff and others don't, it doesn't hurt to ask. Everyone is challenged here but it's fun, despite the course load you'll have a great semester.
