    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Helms is obviously very knowledgeable in this field and you can learn a lot of information from taking this course. However, it is not easy to get an A in his class. You must attend class and actually pay attention. Jotting down the notes from his lectures are also not enough; you must read the textbook and thoroughly study the chapter at hand. Remember not to procrastinate on your term paper! He is definitely a tough grader.

    Course highlights:

Helms knew how to make you pay attention in his class. He was engaging, funny, and witty. He was great at giving us real life examples to apply to our learning, which also aided us in remembering the material. As expected from an introduction course, you mostly learn the basics of Psychology, like the different theories, experiments, and research that have made the field what it is today.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the textbook! Just showing up to class and taking mediocre notes will cut it. You have to diligently read the chapter and take your own notes. Helms tends to ask detailed questions on his tests so you have to make sure that you fully understand the topic.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Engaging lectures, interesting film analysis project, and fantastic way to get started with psychology.

    Course highlights:

Lecturer is absolutely hilarious and an engaging storyteller.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you read the text as sometimes the lectures omit information that you will still be tested on.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Professor Stamatakis's generally communicates with the students in a very respectful manner and grabs their attention. She in a way keeps them interested and motivated to learn and do their work with out too much pressure.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot from this class although there wasn't much work assigned. I am more of an observational learner and her teaching methods worked.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The only thing that would go against you and your grade is if you're late and do not show up prepared. It's light work that requires a couple of hours a week. When you're in class listen and stay focused. The class I took was only once a week so not showing up and being late really brought my A down to a B
