Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Ms. Shelly Spratt was an amazing teacher who made students look forward to a class that most people were scarred to attend. She made her students feel important and we all would get the feeling that she really wanted us to succeed in speech class. A lot of students were anxious about the thought of giving a speech (including me) but Ms. Spratt had daily activities that she had her students perform to help them get comfortable such as a lip sync activity.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to be confident and calm while speaking to an audience as well as different speaking techniques and different types of speeches people give (commemorative, persuasive, informative). It was easy to be nervous and have high anxiety throughout the duration of giving a speech, but as we continued to give speeches the class became more comfortable giving them to the point we almost looked forward to them.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice to students considering the course is to take it! Don't procrastinate on taking the course because it is a speech class. I was nervous and anxious and put it off until the end, but after taking the class and looking back on it, it was possibly one of my favorite college classes. Be prepared to jump out of your comfort zone and open your mouth, it sounds scary, but the more practice you do, the easier and more enjoyable it becomes.
