Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

PharmD consists of clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, clinical research. The course work is a compilation of 5-year academic curriculum and one year of internship. Students will be posted in various wards in the hospital starting from 3rd year. This course deals with the application of pharmacology in pathology and various other clinical sides of the pharmacy. If you are planning to branch out into pharmaceutical marketing, medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutics(deals with medicine manufacturing and preparation), this course is not for you. Although we cover medicinal chemistry and few other industry related subjects, it is not taught extensively in this course However, if you want to work in healthcare sector, this is a great opportunity to learn more on drugs, individualisation of therapy, community pharmacy, dispensing and dealing with patients.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course are personalising drug therapy, tapering drugs to individual needs of patients, monitoring therapeutic response and managing adverse events. I did internship in various specialties such as neuromedicine, neonatology( deals with newborns), cardiology and clinical research organisation. Since the course work consists of biostatistics, clinical research and other chemistry related subjects, working in research field would also be career options. However, the course work can be tailored to produce excellent clinical phamracists.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you are planning to go in clincical pharmacy, clinical research or other pharmacotherapeutics related fields, this is a great course for you.
