    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course focused on the intersection of philosophy, mathematics, and theoretical physics. It was incredibly challenging as the professor forced active participation, assigned a lot of dense reading, and utilized the Socratic method to assure you understood the material and had a reinforced argument.

    Course highlights:

Because the course focused on theory and abstract concepts, it taught me to write my arguments clearly and deconstruct ideas into their most basic components so as to clearly define my argument.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise that you keep up with the reading and learn to take short, notes summarizing basic and main ideas per paragraph. I would also advise that you begin writing your paper well in advance as a minimum 8 page paper would be difficult to write without having to write about a topic such as string theory.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking English 1B for those who plan to study literature in the future. It gives a great foundation for writing about poetry, short stories, plays, and novels. The professor that I took for this class had great taste in each genre, so the required reading didn't feel like much work.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of the course was the focus on poetry. I learned to critically think about an author's decision to use each individual word. By the end of the poetry portion of the class, I felt a new sense of confidence in my ability to interpret abstract language.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

If you plan on taking this professor, make sure you begin reading the novel at the beginning of the semester. She expects you to have a large portion of the novel read by a certain date and tests accordingly.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This is a really interesting class in which you get to study the specifics of monsters.

    Course highlights:

You get to read Dracula and Frankenstien in this class, which means that you are reading some very important and historical fiction.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you do the reading. You can get through the class by just skimming, but the teacher is cool and the discussions are really interesting if you know what you are talking about.
