Pretty easy, overall.
Statistics is an intimidating subject for many students, and even more so for a student with who is weak in mathematics and has a learning disability. Professor Hochwald is an amazing teacher and makes his lectures fun, easy to understand by way of drawing and acting, and is not only warm and caring, but lightens up the mood by his sense of humor. I actually looked forward to attending his 8am class on a Saturday morning. Other than Professor Hochwald, no teacher has been able to elicit such a response from me. He genuinely cares about his students and their success in the course, and further, cares that they succeed in life. I truly can't recommend him highly enough. He is one of those rare gems of a professor.
My goodness - where to begin! In Professor Hochwald 's class we learned all matters concerning statistics that you would expect: standard deviation, proportions, probability, standard error, hypothesis testing, sample data, populations, critical values, z-scores...honestly I could go on forever! But the point is, it's his manner and style of teaching that makes statistics accessible and easy to understand for everyone. He tells jokes that relate to the problems so you'll recall them during test time, and act parts out so you know which way to read a Z-cart or T-chart. It's so refreshing and easy to remember because of his unique approach and style. As someone in the DSPS program, I truly appreciated this as I believe he goes above and beyond what any teacher nor may does.

Advice for students:
My best advice to students taking this course is to be present every class and take excellent notes. Copy everything he writes on the board because you can sure the same material will be found on the test. Another great thing about Professor Hochwald 'a teaching method is that it makes purchasing the book optional because of the way he assign homework. This is an incredible relief for many students as they struggle to pay for the high price of college tuition as well as books!
