Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it is extremely interesting. One is able to learn the history of music as well as the musicians that defined their eras. I enjoyed learning the subtle and not-so-subtle differences that marked one piece unique and special to the composer. It was fascinating to learn about different composing styles and how they were influenced by the events of that era.

    Course highlights:

I learned so much about the music I loved. For instance, I learned that many classical composers were influenced by love. Beethoven, for instance, is rumored to have written his famous Fur Elise for a student he was in love with. Others, meanwhile, wrote music that reflected their social situations or the events that were occurring at that time. I also learned how to distinguish between composers' styles. These differences varied and though undecipherable at first, will slowly become more evident as one listens to more classical music more closely.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed, I suggest taking good notes on the Professor's slides. Most, if not all, of her test questions is derived from the material she covers in class. And if you don't understand a particular concept, be sure to visit her office hours for help! I also looked at other study resources such as educational YouTube videos to help me study for the tests. And don't forget to do your hours in the music lab! Use it as the time to really immerse yourself in the music of the era!

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

It is a great class to take if you are beginning your journey to learn about music. you learn the basic essentials to theory and a lot of history that should not be forgotten.

    Course highlights:

I gained a sense of respect for classical music because I now understand where it all comes form. All music came from somewhere and I want to know where it came from, it was an overall great class to take.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make a study guide on all of the vocab and get with some friends to memorize all of it.
